About the Organisation

Boston United Community Foundation is the charitable arm of Boston United Football Club and one of the leading community sports programmes in Lincolnshire. The Foundation uses football to inspire pride, build confidence and open doors for people across Boston and the surrounding area, breaking down barriers so that everyone can benefit from sport, whatever their background.

Its work spans grassroots and girls' football, walking football, health and wellbeing programmes, learning disability coaching, holiday activities and food provision, Premier League Primary Stars delivery in schools, and a 16–19 education and football programme. It is a small, close-knit team delivering safe and affordable activities that bring the whole community together.

About the Role

This is a senior leadership role at the heart of the Foundation. Working alongside the Community Manager, the Assistant Community Manager will take operational responsibility for the Foundation's day-to-day running, leading the Heads of Department and driving delivery standards across all programmes and functions.

The postholder will help shape the Foundation's strategic direction, manage key external relationships and deputise for the Community Manager when required. What You'll Do
Deputise for the Community Manager as appropriate, providing effective leadership across the organisation and supporting all staff to deliver to the highest standards
Line manage the Heads of Department and Administrator, building confidence and competence through mentoring and modelling good practice, and keeping accurate records of cover, timetabling and annual leave
Contribute to the development and implementation of the Foundation's strategic business plan, ensuring alignment with industry standards including the Capability Code of Practice (CCOP)
Oversee project delivery across all programmes, ensuring high-quality outcomes, value for money and full compliance with funder monitoring and evaluation requirements
Maintain robust monitoring and evaluation systems, oversee KPI tracking and provide regular performance updates to the Community Manager to inform decision-making
Build and maintain relationships with partners across the public, private and voluntary sectors, and work alongside Boston United FC to ensure a joined-up approach across the whole club
Promote an inclusive approach to participation so that all members of the community can enjoy and benefit from the Foundation's activities
Support the Foundation's financial systems, including budget monitoring, purchase orders and financial reporting, and manage day-to-day purchasing, stock, supplies and kit distribution
Support the marketing function, contributing to communications, social media content and promotional materials that celebrate the impact of the Foundation's programmes
Act as a designated safeguarding officer, fulfilling all safeguarding responsibilities in line with legislation and best practice, and maintaining accurate DBS records for staff across the charity
Work with the Head of Education & Employability to help supervise volunteers and work experience placements
What They're Looking For

Essential

Degree in community or sports development, or equivalent experience
At least three years' managerial experience
Strong leadership and strategic planning skills
Experience of building culture and embedding values
Community development and engagement experience, and an understanding of local social and political environments
Networking and partnership-building skills
Financial management and budget planning experience
Monitoring and evaluation, insight and impact experience
Performance management and decision-making skills
Excellent ICT skills, including Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
Ability to promote and maintain the integrity and reputation of Boston United FC and the Foundation
Knowledge and understanding of health and safety
Full driving licence and willingness to travel

Desirable

Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
ILM Level 5, CMI Level 5 or equivalent management qualification
Designated Safeguarding Lead qualification at Level 3 or above, or a commitment to achieve one within an agreed timeframe
Health and safety training or qualifications
Experience in facility development and operations
Experience in governance and regulation
Business development experience
Presentation and public relations experience
Practical Details
Location: The Jakemans Community Stadium, Boston, plus other locations as required
Salary: Competitive
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Reports to: Community Manager
Direct reports: Heads of Department and Administrator
Checks: Enhanced DBS check and two satisfactory references
