Be the first person to own FAN's income: grants, partnerships and earned income that fund our leagues, events and campaigns.

About Football Action Network
Football Action Network (FAN) is a community interest company set up in 2026 to use football for community action. We work as a partner to clubs, club foundations, community groups and campaigners, helping them do more of what they already do well. We are not a regulator or a think tank.

Our work sits under three headings: We Protect, We Unite and We Amplify. In our first year that means inclusive community football leagues, events such as our national tournament, and campaigns on online harms in football and diversity in senior football roles.

FAN is volunteer-led, with heads of department across engagement, advocacy, comms, research and operations.

Why this role exists
We don't yet have a reliable income. Our running costs are low, but leagues, events and campaigns all need money we haven't secured, and at the moment funding is chased event by event with nobody owning it. You would be the first person to own it.

What you'll be responsible for
- An income plan. In your first two months, agree a 12-month plan with the CEO: which income sources we go after, what each could be worth, how much time it takes, and who does the work. Review it with the board each quarter.
- Grants. Lead our first applications to trusts and foundations, starting with the National Lottery Community Fund and a shortlist of funders we have already identified. You'll write or co-write the bids, drawing on our research and comms leads for evidence and case studies.
- Partnerships and sponsorship. Build a shortlist of companies and organisations whose values fit ours and lead the conversations with them. Every partner goes through our due diligence check before anything is signed.
- Earned income. Work with the leagues and events leads to price what we deliver, so that leagues and events cover their own costs and contribute to core costs.
- Pipeline and reporting. Keep every opportunity in HubSpot with a value, a stage and a next action. Send the CEO and board a short monthly update covering what has gone in, what has come back, and what's next.
- Building a small team. As income grows, recruit and support volunteer leads for grants and partnerships. We don't expect you to cover all of this alone in five hours a week.

What success looks like after 12 months
- An agreed income plan, reviewed quarterly
- A number of funding applications submitted, with an agreed amount secured
- An agreed number of signed partners or sponsors
- Leagues and events covering their direct costs
- A pipeline in HubSpot that someone else could run if needed.

What we're looking for

Essential
- A track record of bringing money into a charity, CIC, sports body or similar organisation. Grants won, sponsorships signed or partnerships agreed. Tell us what you raised and how
- Able to write a clear, evidence-based funding bid
- Comfortable approaching people you don't know, and following up until there's an answer
- Organised enough to keep a pipeline moving on limited hours

Desirable
- Knowledge of UK community sport funding, club foundations or corporate CSR programmes
- Contacts in football, sport or business
- Experience recruiting or leading volunteers
- Used HubSpot or a similar CRM

What we offer
- A leadership seat in a new organisation, with a say in how it's funded and run
- Direct work with the founder and CEO
- Expenses covered under our expenses policy
- A reference and a defined senior role you can put on your CV
- A front seat in the vehicle to make society a better place through the sport we love.

Before you apply
- This is an unpaid role. We don't pay commission or a percentage of funds raised, in line with the Code of Fundraising Practice.
- You'll sign our volunteer agreement and code of conduct, and follow our data protection policy.
- Please tell us about any current roles, paid or voluntary, with funders, sponsors or football bodies so we can manage any conflict of interest openly.

How to apply
Apply through the role page on Football Action Network's website: fill in the form and attach your CV. FAN is taking applications on a rolling basis and will start reviewing applications on 23 October 2026.

In your application: You might tell us about the largest sum you have personally raised or secured and how you did it, and why FAN, and why now. Please also mention any current roles we should know about (see "Before you apply").
