About the Role
This is a key commercial position within the Trust, with overall responsibility for developing, managing and growing its commercial partnerships and income generation. The Head of Partnerships will be accountable for hitting agreed income targets, strengthening relationships with existing partners, developing new commercial opportunities, and positioning the Trust as a credible and valued partner within the local business community.
The postholder will have the opportunity to shape the Trust's commercial proposition and build long-term strategic partnerships that deliver both financial value and meaningful community impact, while making sure partners receive an excellent experience and clear value from their relationship with the Trust.
The role is based at Fleetwood Town FC's training ground at Poolfoot Farm, with regular travel to networking events, partner meetings and other external engagements. Occasional evening work is required for networking events, partner events and Trust activities.
What You'll Do
Income Generation & Commercial Development
Take full responsibility for achieving agreed income generation targets set within the Trust's organisation-wide and departmental budgets
Develop and implement an annual partnership and income generation strategy aligned with the Trust's wider objectives
Create and maintain an annual pipeline of new commercial prospects to support a target of 25% year-on-year growth in commercial income
Identify and develop new income streams, partnership opportunities and commercial relationships
Develop compelling partnership propositions that demonstrate the Trust's reach, impact and value
Maintain accurate records of prospects, opportunities, income and partnership activity
Partnership Management
Manage relationships with the Trust's existing commercial partners
Ensure all agreed partnership outcomes, benefits and deliverables are met
Build strong professional relationships with partners to understand their objectives and identify further opportunities for collaboration
Take a proactive approach to partner servicing, communication and account management
Work towards 100% annual partner retention, supporting long-term, multi-year partnerships
Grow the value and longevity of existing partnerships through upselling, renewals and additional activity
Business Networking & External Relationships
Ensure the Trust is strongly represented within relevant local and regional business networking groups
Build relationships with Chambers of Commerce, Business Improvement Districts, business forums and other networks
Embed the Trust within existing Business Club and business networking communities
Establish positive relationships with local business leaders and decision-makers that lead to long-term investment and collaboration
Act as a senior ambassador for the Trust within the business community
Events & Engagement
Create, manage and deliver two Trust networking events each year for existing and prospective partners
Ensure events are professionally delivered, commercially focused and give attendees a strong experience
Develop opportunities for partners to network and engage with the Trust and the wider Fleetwood Town FC community
Gather and act on partner feedback to continually improve engagement activity
Partnership Campaigns
Develop, manage and deliver partnership campaigns throughout the year, including Christmas and other seasonal or thematic initiatives
Work collaboratively across the Trust and Fleetwood Town FC to maximise campaign reach, engagement and income
Ensure campaigns offer meaningful opportunities for partners while raising the Trust's profile and community impact
How success will be measured Performance will be assessed against agreed annual objectives, including achievement of commercial income targets, 25% annual growth in commercial income, 100% partner retention, growth in the number and value of multi-year partnerships, a strong prospect pipeline, delivery of two networking events a year, a growing presence across local business networks, partner satisfaction, and the commercial performance of partnership campaigns.
What They're Looking For
Essential
Proven experience in partnership development, business development, fundraising, sales or income generation
Demonstrable experience of managing and developing commercial relationships
A track record of achieving income generation, sales or commercial targets
Strong understanding of relationship management and account development
Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills
Ability to build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective partners
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver against measurable targets
Strong organisational and project management skills
Ability to represent the Trust professionally within external business networks
A proactive, ambitious and commercially minded approach
Desirable
Experience in the charity, community, sport, education or public service sectors
Existing relationships within the Lancashire and wider North West business community
Experience of delivering business networking or partner engagement events
Experience of developing multi-year commercial partnerships
Knowledge of Fleetwood, Wyre and the surrounding business community
Experience of working within or alongside a professional sports organisation
