Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation is the official charity of Middlesbrough Football Club. Established in 1996, it has spent nearly three decades supporting communities across Teesside and the wider Tees Valley through programmes in Education and Employability, Health and Wellbeing, and Social Inclusion.
The Foundation works with people of all ages – from young people who need a chance, guidance and someone they can trust, to adults looking for work or help with education, to older people rebuilding social connections, including those living with dementia. Between 2019 and 2024 it engaged more than 38,000 participants, delivered over 25,000 sessions and generated more than £20 million in social return on investment.

About the Role
The Education Coordinator sits within the Foundation's Education Team and plays a key role in the delivery and oversight of two flagship programmes: the Premier League Inspires programme, funded by the Premier League Foundation, and the Foundation's in-house degree programme, run in partnership with the University of South Wales (USW).
The focus is on high-quality programme coordination and delivery – hitting agreed KPIs and meeting the strategic objectives of funders and partners. The postholder will also support, mentor and develop education staff through purposeful one-to-one support, driving consistency, quality and positive outcomes for learners.
The Foundation is looking for someone organised, passionate and motivated, with a real commitment to education and to making a meaningful difference for young people. The role reports to the Thriving Communities Manager.
What You'll Do
Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of education programmes across partner schools, making sure activity is well planned, organised and delivered to a high standard
Support, guide and mentor education staff so they deliver consistently high-quality sessions and achieve programme outcomes
Monitor programme performance against KPIs, targets and funding requirements, and take action where improvement is needed
Ensure delivery meets the requirements of funders, partner schools and the Foundation
Maintain accurate records, data and evidence for monitoring, evaluation, reporting and funding purposes
Coordinate curriculum planning and delivery so programmes are engaging, relevant and aligned to agreed outcomes
Build strong relationships with schools, funders, partners and other stakeholders
Provide guidance to staff on planning, delivery, safeguarding, quality assurance and professional practice
Monitor the quality and impact of delivery, identifying areas for improvement and sharing good practice across the team
Support staff to deliver effective mentoring and interventions that improve young people's engagement, attendance, wellbeing and educational outcomes
Ensure safeguarding procedures, risk assessments and Foundation and partner policies are consistently followed
Contribute to programme reviews, reporting and development, identifying opportunities for growth
Support wider Foundation programmes, projects and events as required
What They're Looking For
Essential
Experience
Coordinating and managing programmes in an educational or similar setting
Experience and/or understanding of youth work practice, including one-to-one mentoring and group activities
Working with children and young people in an educational or youth work setting
A passion for improving opportunities for young people from high-need areas and/or under-represented groups
Ability to communicate effectively with young people, schools and partner agencies
Experience of collecting data
Qualifications
Level 3/4 HLTA or equivalent teaching qualification
A good standard of general education, including high-level literacy and numeracy
Level 2 Youth Work or Level 2 Effective Mentoring qualification (or willingness to work towards)
Emergency First Aid certificate (or willingness to work towards)
FA Safeguarding Children course (or willingness to work towards)
Skills and Knowledge
Strong working knowledge of safeguarding
Ability to work independently – a proactive self-starter who thinks creatively and takes initiative to deliver inspiring, motivating sessions
Ability to listen, empathise and give individualised support and advice
Strong commitment to quality service delivery
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A flexible and adaptable approach to delivery
Willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to wider Foundation operations
A desire to be a positive role model for young people
Additional Requirements
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, and to work at or visit a range of locations regularly
Eligibility to work in the UK
A valid driving licence, with access to own transport (including business insurance) and willingness to travel across the Tees Valley
A satisfactory enhanced DBS check
Desirable
Experience supporting young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET)
Experience developing links with parents, carers, families and other agencies
Experience delivering accredited qualifications
Experience in secondary school or community settings
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Adult Mental Health First Aid certificate (or willingness to work towards)
Level 1 or above sports coaching qualification from a recognised National Governing Body, e.g. FA Introduction to Football or UEFA C Licence (or willingness to work towards)
Trauma-Informed Practice / Creating Safe Spaces training (or willingness to work towards)
Knowledge of the issues facing young people from high-need communities
Understanding of how health, social, economic and environmental factors affect young people and their communities
Knowledge and awareness of transition periods in young people's lives
IT skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and databases
