Notts County Foundation is the independent charitable arm of Notts County FC. It has spent more than 30 years using sport and physical activity to improve health and wellbeing in communities across Nottingham. It runs The Portland Centre, a community leisure centre in The Meadows.
About the Role
Notts County Foundation is looking for a Duty Manager to help run a safe, welcoming and inclusive community facility at the heart of The Meadows. The Duty Manager is at the centre of day-to-day operations at The Portland Centre. The job is to make sure each shift is well organised, focused on customers and responsive to what the community needs.
The role is 40 hours a week on a rotating shift pattern that includes early mornings, evenings and weekends. It is based at The Portland Centre and reports to the Community Leisure Manager.
What You'll Do
Running the centre
- Supervise daily operations and the staff on shift
- Open, close and secure the building
- Allocate staff and set up the facility for activities
- Carry out routine safety checks and follow emergency procedures
Customer service
- Be the main point of contact for customers, contractors and visitors
- Deal with enquiries, complaints and communications
- Sort out operational problems as they arise
- Cover reception, lifeguarding and cleaning when needed
Finance and admin
- Keep all money secure and complete banking accurately
- Follow health and safety and financial procedures
People
- Supervise and manage the staff assigned to you
- Support recruitment, grievances and appraisals
- Run inductions and spot training needs
Community
- Help coordinate and involve community groups
- Help bring satellite services into the centre
- Work with colleagues on projects that respond to community needs
What They're Looking For
Essential
- A current Pool Plant Operators qualification
- A current First Aid at Work certificate
- At least one year of leisure management experience
- Confident with IT, Microsoft Office and leisure management software
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
- Able to work on your own and as part of a team
- An enhanced DBS check before starting
Desirable
- A current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
- An exercise class qualification
- A Level 2 gym qualification
- Community engagement experience
Practical Details
Salary: £25,000 – £28,500 per year
Hours: 40 hours per week, rotating shifts including early mornings, evenings and weekends
