Healthworks, an award-winning charity working with communities across the North East to tackle health inequalities and improve health, wellbeing and life outcomes, is recruiting a Senior Manager for its Physical Activity Team. About the role
A Senior Health Improvement Manager to lead the specialist Physical Activity team: overall leadership of the service, building a strong and skilled team, and making sure people with long-term health conditions or those new to physical activity get an excellent experience that improves confidence, health literacy, condition management and quality of life.
What you'll do
- Lead and develop the Physical Activity team and service
- Work with the senior management team, commissioners, funders and partners to maintain service agreements and shape new commissions and business opportunities
- Lead service development projects supporting strategic aims
- Monitor performance, manage resources and budgets, and maintain robust procedures and risk assessments
- Ensure the team has the tools, training and support to perform effectively
What they're looking for
An experienced, supportive leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills, a practical understanding of safe and inclusive physical activity and a genuine commitment to improving health outcomes. Essential: REPs Level 3 Exercise Referral qualification or above, plus relevant experience supporting people with long-term conditions. Advantageous: further specialist qualifications, charity/voluntary sector experience, access to a car.
Practical details
GBP 32,246.24 - GBP 35,555.52, full-time up to 37 hours per week, permanent subject to funding, hybrid (Health Resource Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne). Benefits: 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata), free membership of both Healthworks gyms, training and development.
