Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre, a community sports charity whose tennis, padel and pickleball courts make up the largest indoor venue of its type in Wales and one of the largest in the UK, is recruiting a Treasurer to join its Board at a transition point. The Centre hosts regional, national and international tournaments, including the Lexus Wrexham Open, and has recently strengthened its Board, appointed its first Chief Executive, formalised governance and invested substantially in extending and refurbishing the Centre.
About the role
The outgoing Treasurer is reverting to paid financial controller, creating a clean separation between professional accounting services and independent Board-level oversight. The Treasurer helps the Board understand and scrutinise the Centre's financial position, budgets, forecasts, cash flow and financial risks; provides constructive challenge to management and professional advisers; and supports strong financial governance. Sits on the Finance & Operations Committee. This is governance and strategic oversight, not routine bookkeeping or accounts preparation.
What they're looking for
Strong financial judgement, comfortable at Board level; significant experience in finance, accountancy, financial management, commercial finance or a senior business role with substantial financial responsibility; confident reading accounts, budgets, forecasts and management information; able to explain financial matters clearly to non-financial trustees. A professional accountancy or finance qualification is highly desirable but not essential with substantial senior financial experience. First-time trustees welcome.
