Box Champions & Box Therapy (non-contact boxing with mentoring and therapy)
ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
Empire Fighting Chance is a Bristol charity that uses non-contact boxing to fight the impact of inequality on young people's lives. Its Box Champions programme combines non-contact boxing training with psychology-informed mentoring for young people aged 8 to 25, while Box Therapy is a 12-week programme in which a qualified therapist uses boxing as an active, stigma-free alternative to talking therapy. The charity works with young people experiencing social and economic inequality who face challenges with their behaviour and/or mental health. It is based at The Mill boxing gym in Easton, Bristol, and also trains boxing clubs and other locally trusted organisations across the UK to deliver its model.
