Football Welcomes (Leicester City in the Community)
ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
Football Welcomes uses the power of football to welcome refugees and people seeking asylum in Leicester and Leicestershire. An Amnesty UK-backed initiative, it offers free-to-access weekly football sessions for individuals and families, delivered in partnership with After 18, Loughborough University (with LSU) and Town of Sanctuary, plus drop-ins with partners including City of Sanctuary, British Red Cross and Fearon Hall. Most sessions are for adults, with some for 16+. Football connects participants into their community, boosts health and wellbeing and reduces social isolation.
