Millwall Walking Football Club (Millwall Community Trust)
ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
Millwall Community Trust runs free, open-access walking football sessions for older people for 48 weeks of the year; the Millwall Walking Football Club has run for over four years in settings including TRA halls, community and leisure centres, estate ball courts, parks and Guy's Hospital. It brings older people from different backgrounds together and helps reduce stress, isolation and loneliness, supporting people who are inactive or living with long-term conditions, including dementia, mental health and limited mobility, to stay fit and healthy. It also gives a break to people living with someone with dementia. Players often stay to socialise, the group plays friendly matches and mini tournaments, and weekly phone calls keep members in touch between sessions.
