Sporting Memories Clubs
ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
Sporting Memories Clubs are weekly community groups for people aged 50 and over, including people living with dementia, depression or long-term conditions and people facing isolation and loneliness. Members reminisce about sport and then take part in light, inclusive games and physical activity, which supports their mental and physical wellbeing and reduces loneliness. The charity and social enterprise began launching clubs in England and Scotland in 2011 after pilots that included 15 care homes in Leeds, and now runs over 150 weekly clubs across England, Scotland and Wales. Clubs run in community and leisure centres, sports clubs, care homes and hospitals, and are supported by volunteers.
