Surf Therapy
ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
The Wave Project is a UK surf therapy charity that aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people through surfing. Young people are referred onto a six-week surf therapy course in which each participant is supported by a personal volunteer surf mentor and works at their own pace. Graduates can join an ongoing Surf Club for as long as they need it, and from age 14 can train as volunteer surf mentors themselves. Founded in Cornwall, the charity now delivers at coastal sites across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and at inland wave pools in Bristol and Edinburgh, alongside adaptive surfing for disabled young people.
