Targeted Youth Mentoring (Support Through Sport)
ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
One-to-one and small-group mentoring from Support Through Sport, a Nottingham-based charity working at the intersection of sport and youth work across the Midlands. A dedicated team of targeted youth mentors supports young people aged 10-18 who are at risk of involvement, or already involved, in negative influences such as youth offending, anti-social behaviour, group violence and knife crime; many have four or more adverse childhood experiences. Young people are identified internally through the charity's open-access sport sessions or referred externally via formal referral processes, and mentors build trust-based relationships, using sport and physical activity as the engagement tool, to set goals, reduce risk factors and embed protective factors with a child-first approach. Delivery covers Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Birmingham, from offices in Nottingham, Derbyshire and Birmingham.
