Walking Cricket (Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation)
ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
Walking Cricket is a slower-paced, low-impact format of cricket designed for people aged 50 and over, delivered by Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation. It is usually played indoors in a sports hall with a soft ball, plastic bats and stumps, so no protective equipment is needed and everyone bats, bowls and fields. The Foundation says it improves health and mental wellbeing, increases confidence, reduces social isolation and connects people to their community. Weekly sessions run across the county, including Cheltenham, Gloucester (Coopers Edge), Tetbury, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bristol (St Pauls), Cirencester and Winchcombe (including a women-only session), plus sessions at cricket clubs.

PARTICIPANT VOICE
“As a retiree with limited opportunities for daily interaction, the GCF Walking Cricket initiative has had a most beneficial effect, not only upon my physical ability but also upon my mental wellbeing. I very much look forward to the weekly cricket sessions and wholeheartedly recommend the experience. - Walking Cricket participant (published by Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation)”
