WOW - Walk to School Challenge

WOW is Living Streets' walk to school challenge for primary schools across the UK, run in around 2,000 schools. Pupils self-report how they travel to school each day on the interactive WOW Travel Tracker; those who walk, wheel, cycle, scoot or Park and Stride at least once a week for a month earn a collectable monthly badge (11 badges per academic year, designed by primary school pupils; the 2026/27 theme is Walk the Senses). Resources are available in Welsh. WOW is for primary school pupils, from reception upwards. On average, WOW schools see 59% fewer car journeys at the school gates and an 18% increase in walking and wheeling. WOW costs from around £2 per pupil per year (badges plus Travel Tracker subscription), and many schools fund it through the PE and Sport Premium; fully funded places are available in some areas, offered first come, first served - schools can check eligibility via the Living Streets website.
